Coronavirus: With 4,529 new fatalities, India records highest single day COVID deaths

Coronavirus India Updates: India on Wednesday once again recorded more recoveries than the new cases of COVID-19 in the last 24 hours. As per the coronavirus updates given by the Union Health Ministry, India reported 2,67,334 new COVID-19 cases, 3,89,851 discharges, and 4529 deaths (highest in a single day) in the last 24 hours. With this, the total number of coronavirus cases in India has been increased to 2,54,96,330 while the total discharges have reached 2,19,86,363. The death toll in the country has increased to 2,83,248 while the active cases stand at 32,26,719. As of now, a total of 18,58,09,302 people in India have been administered COVID-19 vaccines amid the vaccination drive in the nation. Coronavirus India Updates: India on Wednesday once again recorded more recoveries than the new cases of COVID-19 in the last 24 hours. According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), a total of 32,03,01,177 samples were tested for COVID-19 up to May 18, 2021. Of these, 20,08,296 samples were tested on Tuesday. Meanwhile, the government of India shared the current availability of dedicated COVID-19 beds in the new AIIMS. It stated that capacities of these to handle COVID cases being reinforced by the Govt of India by allocating ventilators, oxygen concentrators, cylinders, besides other consumables like N95 masks, PPE kits, and essential drugs.
