Covid-19: Punjab reports 3,096 fresh cases and 25 deaths

Chandigarh, January 29: Punjab on Friday reported 3,096 fresh cases of Covid-19 and 25 new deaths due to coronavirus in 24 hours, according to the state media bulletin issued by the health department. With 3,096 fresh coronavirus cases, Punjab's overall infection tally has increased to 7,35,139. The new deaths reported in Punjab were from several districts including Amritsar, Ferozepur, Gurdaspur, and Pathankot. Of fresh cases, Mohali remained on the top of the list with the highest number of cases at 693, followed by Ludhiana and Jalandhar, which reported 467 and 234 cases, respectively. Coronavirus update: India reports 2.86 lakh Covid-19 cases in 24 hours As per the media bulletin, a total of 1,156 patients were on oxygen support while 95 critical patients are on ventilators. On Friday, a total of 6,880 Covid patients were recovered, taking the total number of recoveries to 6,84,944. With this, the overall count of Covid cases has increased to 88,382 while the total recoveries rose to 82,623. With four new deaths in the city due to the contagious disease, the overall death toll here reached 1,112 and the active cases stand at 4,647.
