DCGI grants EUA to Corbevax for those aged 5-12, Covaxin for 6-12 age group

New Delhi, April 26: The Drugs Controller General of India has approved Bharat Biotech's Covaxin for restricted emergency use in children aged 6 to 12 years, according to sources. This development comes after the Subject Expert Committee (SEC) of the Drug Controller General of India (DCGI) asked Bharat Biotech for additional data on its coronavirus vaccine, Covaxin, for administering it to children aged between 2-12 years, as per the sources. However, after a meeting on Thursday, the SEC has recommended restricted emergency use of Biological E's Covid-19 vaccine, Corbevax, in children aged 5-12 years, said sources. Covaxin approved for use in children Now the expert body will be giving approval for its emergency use authorisation. The Corbevax vaccine is now being administered to children aged 12 to 14. The vaccination drive for children aged 15 to 18 years began on January 3 of this year. They are being administered Covaxin vaccine.
