Covid Punjab: Schools, colleges to remain shut

Covid-19 Punjab: Amid rising cases of coronavirus in Punjab, the Director of School Education on Monday announced that all educational institutions, including schools and colleges, will continue to remain closed till January 25. As per the previous order, the schools and colleges in Punjab were directed to remain shut till January 15. Although Punjab Government had issued new guidelines there was no mention regarding the reopening of schools. Therefore, several students were facing hardships as there was no clarification on the reopening of schools. Punjab is also slated to undergo polling on February 20. Likewise, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has extended the ban on physical rallies and roadshows in the five poll-bound states till January 22. However, the commission also granted relaxations for the political parties in Uttar Pradesh, Goa, Punjab, Manipur, and Uttarakhand, where assembly elections will be held from February 10 till March 10. "ECI extends ban on physical rallies and roadshows until 22 January 2022 ECI grants relaxation for the political parties to the extent that indoor meetings of a maximum of 300 persons or 50 percent of the capacity of the hall or the prescribed limit set by SDMA," ECI informed in a tweet.
