Punjab crime: 29-year-old veterinary doctor killed in Abohar, blood-soaked body found at govt official's house

PTC News Desk: A 29-year-old veterinary doctor was allegedly murdered in Gidrawali village in Abohar on Saturday night. His body was found on Sunday morning inside an unoccupied government official’s house located amid agricultural fields in the village.

The deceased has been identified as Amandeep Singh. After receiving information about the incident, DSP Amandeep Singh and Khuiyan Sarwar police station SHO Paramjit Singh reached the spot with a police team.

Police collected evidence from the crime scene and sent the body for post-mortem examination.

Mobile phone helped identify victim

Village sarpanch Desraj said that village resident Jagjit Singh is currently posted as an SDM in the Patiala region. His agricultural land has been given to others for cultivation, while the farmers working on the land look after the house located in the fields.

On Sunday morning, villagers received information that the body of a young man had been found inside the house and informed the police.

According to the sarpanch, the victim was initially difficult to identify because he had suffered serious injuries to his face and head. His identity was established with the help of a mobile phone found at the scene. He was identified as village resident Amandeep Singh, after which his family was informed.

Police officials inspected the scene and collected necessary evidence. Preliminary information suggests that the victim had injuries caused by a sharp and pointed weapon.

Police have not yet reported recovering any weapon from the spot. The identity of the attacker and the motive behind the murder are yet to be established.

Sarpanch Desraj said Amandeep was the eldest of two brothers and a sister and worked as a veterinary doctor. He was also engaged. The incident has left his family and villagers in shock and mourning.

Police investigated the crime scene in the presence of DSP Amandeep Singh and SHO Paramjit Singh. Statements of the victim’s family members have been recorded, and further proceedings have begun.

Police are investigating the motive behind the murder and working to identify and arrest those involved in the crime.
