Explosion reported at Jalalabad Police Station in Fazilka, SAD takes a dig over collapsing law and order
PTC News Desk: A suspected blast was reported inside the City Police Station premises in Jalalabad, Fazilka district. The explosion was powerful enough to shatter the windows of two old cars parked inside the police station. The incident took place around 2 am on Sunday.
At the time of the incident, police personnel were deployed in the area due to a protest against ongoing power cuts. The blast occurred in the rear portion of the police station during the protest.
Soon after receiving the information, senior police officials reached the spot and cordoned off the area. A forensic team also reached the spot and collected the evidence. Police are examining CCTV footage from cameras installed inside the police station and in nearby areas.
SP Satinder Kumar said police received information about the blast at around 2 am. He said the exact cause of the explosion would be known only after the forensic report is received.
The SP said the police are conducting a detailed investigation from all possible angles. He also appealed to people not to panic or pay attention to rumours.
Police officials said the situation is completely under control and further details will become clear after the investigation is completed.
Meanwhile SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal took a dig at AAP-led Punjab government over deteriorating law and order situation in the state.
'Welcome to the ‘New’ Punjab under @AAPPunjab where such incidents have become routine. There is no sense of security, neither at homes, nor even in police stations,' he said in a social media post.
'We don’t need your fake Lok Milnis or documentaries, we need A SAFE ENVIRONMENT TO LIVE IN,' he added further.
