Delay in students’ visa: Canadian universities roll out ‘Contingency plans’

Chandigarh, August 26: Indian students who are dreaming to study in foreign universities are currently facing trouble. Some of them have already took admission in the universities and paid the fees but have not received visas. As the students’ visas for Canada are getting delayed, the Indian High Commission in Ottawa issued ‘contingency plans’ or guidelines for those who have already deposited the fees but have not received the visa. visa-2 Also Read: Gangster Mandeep Manali of Bambiha gang shot dead in Philippines Canadian universities and colleges have rolled out plan for those students who haven’t received their study permit in time for the term that begins in September. Notably, over 2.3 lakh Indian students have enrolled in Canada. Meanwhile, Canadian High Commission looked into the problems of Indian students and said, “We urge students who are still awaiting the outcome of their visa applications to contact their designated learning institution in Canada to discuss options,” it said. States like Punjab and Haryana also witnessed a major setback as this year visa rejection rose to 60 per cent. According to consultants, visas of even those students who have good IELTS scores, academic record and financial background are getting refused. A major reason is the backlog of visa applications in different categories. In this case, the university has given the students the option to come in the next season i.e. in January or September. visa-3 Also Read: SC issues notice to NMC on plea filed by evacuated Ukraine students Meanwhile, the parents are very upset, both their money and the child's career are at stake. -PTC News
