Delhi logs 6,028 fresh Covid cases, 31 fatalities

New Delhi: Delhi reported 6,028 fresh Covid cases and 31 deaths in the last 24 hours. As many as 9,127 patients recovered from coronavirus, as per the latest update issued by the health authorities. The active Covid-19 caseload stands at 42,010 while the death toll has mounted to 25,681. As per the coronavirus update, the positivity rate on Tuesday was recorded at 10.55 per cent. Also Read | India logs 2.5 lakh fresh Covid cases, positivity rate at 20.75% Earlier in the day, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said Covid restrictions in the national capital would soon be lifted as the city’s positivity rate has reduced by 20 per cent in the last 10 days.

“In the previous 10 days, the Covid positivity rate has fallen by 20 per cent. It’s at 10 per cent now, compared to 30 per cent on January 15. All of this is due to the consistent vaccination rate,” said Arvind Kejriwal while addressing a programme in Delhi. Lauding the efforts of healthcare workers, the Delhi CM said 100 per cent population of the national capital had been administered the first dose of Covid vaccine and 82 per cent have received the second shot. “When Covid cases increase, we are forced to impose some restrictions to protect you and your health. Soon we will try to ease restrictions,” added Kejriwal.
