United States President Donald Trump became the first president in the history of US to be impeached twice. The development comes after 10 of his fellow Republicans joined the Democrats in the House of Representatives on Wednesday to charge him with inciting of of insurrection that led to the US Capitol violence last week. The historic 232-197 vote makes Donald Trump the only US president to be impeached twice. The decision was supported by all Democrats and 10 Republicans, including Liz Cheney, the third-ranking GOP leader in the House. Meanwhile, US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, after impeachment of President Donald Trump, said "Today, in a bipartisan way, the House demonstrated that no one is above the law. Not even the president of the United States." Likewise, the US President-elect Joe Biden, on US Capitol violence, said "Last week, we saw an unprecedented assault on our democracy. It was unlike anything we have witnessed in the 244-year history of our nation." "This criminal attack was planned & coordinated. It was carried out by political extremists and domestic terrorists, who were incited to this violence by President Trump. It was an armed insurrection against the US and those responsible must be held accountable," Biden said on US Capitol violence. "This nation also remains in the grip of a deadly virus and a reeling economy. I hope that the Senate leadership will find a way to deal with their Constitutional responsibilities on impeachment while also working on the other urgent business of this nation," he added. "We have seen political violence spiral out of control, we have seen too many riots, mobs, acts of intimidation and destruction. It must stop. Whether you are on the Right or Left, a Democrat or a Republican, there is never a justification for violence," he added. "No excuses, no exception, America is a nation of laws.
