Actor Dalip Tahil gets 2 months in jail for drunk driving, injuring woman
PTC News Desk: Actor Dalip Tahil's 2018 hit-and-run case finally got a verdict. The Baazigar actor has been sentenced to two months in prison for drunk driving and injuring a woman.
According to a report on Live Mint, a magistrate's court sentenced Dalip Tahil ‘relying on the evidence of the doctor who opined that smell of the alcohol was found and pupils were dilated’. When he was arrested in 2018, the actor had refused to give his blood samples to the police for an alcohol test.
Dalip's car collided with an autorickshaw, injuring two passengers. He tried to flee but was blocked by traffic caused by the Ganesh Visarjan processions. The passengers allegedly followed Dalip's car and confronted him. He is claimed to have gotten into a fight with them and pushed them around. The actor was arrested after the police were called.
Jenita Gandhi, 21, and Gaurav Chugh, 22, were the passengers. In the accident, Jenita Gandhi sustained a severe jolt to her back and neck. "Gandhi and Chugh got off the autorickshaw when they saw the car fleeing towards Santacruz. The car couldn't get very far because the street was jammed with Ganeshotsav immersion processions," stated a Khar police officer.
