Bhoot Bangla: Akshay Kumar recalls Asrani’s honest advice and opens up about film risks

Actor Akshay Kumar and filmmaker Priyadarshan recently shared some heartfelt and honest moments while talking about their upcoming film Bhoot Bangla. From talking about fun memories to life lessons, Akshay Kumar and Priyadarshan remembers late veteran actor Asrani.

Akshay and Priyadarshan remembers Asrani

Both Akshay and Priyadarshan spoke warmly about Asrani, who had worked with them in his final films. They described him as a versatile performer who could do everything-comedy, serious roles, and even negative characters with ease.

Akshay Kumar spoke about his last conversation with Asrani. He said, “I have done a lot of films with him. In his last days, he shared a couple of things from his life with me. He spoke about the time he faced the biggest stress of his life, he had told me, never produce a film. He said, ‘Akshay, don’t ever produce a film, it was the biggest mistake of my life when I put in my own money. When you produce a film with someone else’s money, it’s fine, the risk and profit is their’s, when you think of earning more for yourself by putting in your money, it never sits well.’ He had produced a film and faced huge losses. It was a good film, but it didn’t work. He said he lost his life savings because of that. So he told me never to produce by putting in your own money.”

That experience stayed with him, and he passed on this advice to Akshay as a warning. Akshay remembered it deeply and said such lessons from experienced people should never be ignored.

Priyadarshan admired how effortlessly Asrani could adapt to different roles. He believed that Asrani was not just a comic actor but someone who truly understood the craft of acting. Talking about their fond memories of him, Priyadarshan said, “We are lucky that we both worked in his last two films with him. I have seen him since the time of Mere Apne; he played a different role in Sholay. In Koshish, he was a villain. In Abhimaan, he was amazing. Sometimes, I felt he did better than Amitji (Amitabh Bachchan). He was a complete actor; I exploited his comic acumen in this film. I have done a lot of work with Asrani sir; it’s a big loss. You must see Akshay and Asrani’s combination in Bhoot Bangla; they have some of the most hilarious scenes together.”

That experience stayed with him, and he passed on this advice to Akshay as a warning. Akshay remembered it deeply and said such lessons from experienced people should never be ignored.

Akshay's statement on Rajpal Yadav’s situation

The conversation also touched upon actor Rajpal Yadav and the financial trouble he recently faced.

Akshay connected this situation with Asrani’s advice. He said that not everyone understands the business side of filmmaking, and stepping into production without proper knowledge can be risky. According to him, actors should focus on acting, while production should be handled by those who understand it well.

He also showed support for Rajpal, praising his talent and saying that working with him is always a joy. Akshay expressed hope that Rajpal would come out of his difficulties stronger.
