Lok Sabha Elections 2024: As the fifth phase of Lok Sabha elections began, famous Bollywood actor Paresh Rawal completed his democratic duty by voting at a polling booth in Mumbai on Monday morning.

After casting his vote, Mr Rawal spoke with the media, emphasising the importance of voting.

"You'll say the government doesn't do this or that... If you don't vote today, you will be held accountable, not the government," he said, urging people to take responsibility for their civic duty.

He additionally suggested putting penalties on individuals who abstain from voting. "There should be some provisions for those who don't vote, like an increase in tax or some other punishment," he said.

Voting for six Lok Sabha seats in Mumbai is underway as part of Phase 5 of the ongoing Lok Sabha elections. The constituencies voting today are Mumbai North, Mumbai North West, Mumbai North East, Mumbai North Central, Mumbai South, and Mumbai South Central.

Earlier in the day, several Bollywood celebrities voted at their individual polling booths in Mumbai, including Akshay Kumar, Shahid Kapoor, Sanya Malhotra, Rajkumar Rao, and Janhvi Kapoor.
