Miss Universe 2023: Divita Rai turns into ‘Sone ki Chidiya’ for national costume round
Louisiana, January 13: 25-year-old Karnataka born Divita Rai, who is representing India at the Miss Universe pageant this year, stunned everyone with her breathtaking transformation into ‘Sone ki Chidiya’.
With 86 delegates from around the world, the 71st Miss Universe will be held at the Ernest N Morell Convention Center in New Orleans, Louisiana, USA. This competition will be held on January 14.
The final round was preceded by the 'National Costume' round, in which Divita wore a stunning golden lehenga with feathers, that gave her a majestic ‘Sone ki Chidiya’ look. Her pictures are all over the social media for good reasons.
Divulging details about the much talked about outfit, designer Abhishek Sharma took to instagram and wrote, “Divita Rai @divitarai looking regal. The National Costume is inspired by the ethereal portrayal of India as the golden bird which is a symbol of the wealth of our rich cultural heritage along with the spiritual essence of living in harmony with diversity.
The intense gold metallic hand embellishments are a true example of the finest craftsmanship of our artisans.
The lehenga is made from a hand-woven tissue fabric from the Chandheri District of Madhya Pradesh with the drape representing the image of a modern India.
The wings represent the power of nourishment and care that India has shown in the difficult times towards the citizens of the world and took care and stood as a support with the notion of --One World One Family.
The national costume in its true sense is the essence of modern India and its approach to progressive thinking.”
Talking about Divita’s professional journey, she was crowned Miss Universe India by Harnaaz Sandhu on August 28, 2022. Earlier Divita had also participated in Miss Diva Universe 2021 where Harnaz became the winner.
Notably, this year the Miss Universe winner will be crowned by India's current Miss Universe Harnaaz Kaur Sandhu.
