'Sam Bahadur': Vicky Kaushal aims for resonant legacy with 'Sam Bahadur' role

PTC Web Desk: Actor Vicky Kaushal, renowned for his diverse roles in acclaimed films, is set to portray Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw in the upcoming movie 'Sam Bahadur'.  Reuniting with director Meghna Gulzar after the success of "Raazi," this film marks Vicky Kaushal's second lead role in a biopic following the critically acclaimed "Sardar Udham."

In an interview with a news agency recently, Vicky Kaushal expressed his hope that the portrayal of Sam Manekshaw would resonate deeply with audiences, aspiring for the film to reach every corner of the world. He emphasised that while financial success is desirable, the true validation lies in people connecting with and celebrating the essence of the man behind the character.

The 35-year-old actor reflected on the significance of capturing hearts through performances, stating that creating an emotional connection with audiences forms an enduring legacy. He cited instances, whether through a dialogue, a song, or an entire film, that transcend mere entertainment and become part of cultural heritage.

Vicky Kaushal recalled the unexpected phenomenon surrounding the dialogue 'How's the Josh?' from "Uri: The Surgical Strike," acknowledging it as an endearing gift from the audience, as it became a cultural sensation post-movie release.

Regarding his preparation for the role of Sam Manekshaw, Vicky Kaushal shared insights into his immersive approach, aiming not just for an external resemblance but also internalizing the character's essence. He credited director Meghna Gulzar for guiding him to embody the persona authentically, relying on extensive preparation and courage to bring this iconic figure to life on screen.

The eagerly anticipated "Sam Bahadur," also starring Sanya Malhotra as Manekshaw's wife and Fatima Sana Shaikh as former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, is slated for a theatrical release on December 1 under RSVP Movies.
