Fake Covishield alert: Govt explains how to identify fake vaccines
Fake Covishield alert: The Union Government has listed parameters to ascertain the authenticity of Covid 19 vaccines being administered in India to check fake doses.
Following fake Covishield alert, the guidelines sent to states/UTs across the country state that the Serum Institute of India (SII) label is dark green in colour and has been given a special honeycomb effect, visible only at a particular angle.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has flagged concern over counterfeit version of Covid 19 vaccines that have disrupted the vaccination targets. The WHO had recently said it had found duplicate versions of AstraZeneca/Oxford's Covishield vaccines in South-East Asia and Africa.
India administering three shots at present
At the moment, there are three vaccines against Covid 19 in the Indian market--- Serum Institute of India's Covishield, Bharat Biotech's Covaxin, and Russian vaccine Sputnik V.

A vial bottle shall have following details to ascertain Covishield authenticity
(1) Brand name (Covishield) with trademark should be there
(2) The font of the generic name will be un-bold
(3)"(Recombinant)" would be mentioned below the generic name in the same font
(4) CGS not for sale stamp
(5) SII product label
(6) There will be an SII logo on the adhesive side of the label
(7) Label colour shade is dark green and the aluminum flip-off seal is dark green
