Jammu and Kashmir: Government revokes Farooq Abdullah’s detention order
The detention order of former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister and National Conference president Farooq Abdullah has been revoked by the administration on Friday. The order signed by Shaleen Kabra, Principal Secretary Home Department, announced that Farooq’s detention under the Public Safety Act has been revoked.
Farooq Abdullah was detained in August last year immediately after the Government of India abrogated Article 370 from Jammu and Kashmir.
The revocation of Farooq's detention comes at a time when most of the politicians have been released. However, Farooq Abdullah’s son Omar Abdullah and also PDP president Mehbooba Mufti continue to remain under the detention.
