Floods affect over 3.31 lakh people in Assam's Nagaon

Nagaon (Assam), May 20: The flood situation in Assam's Nagaon district remains severe, with more than 3.31 lakh people affected. According to the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA), the current wave of floods has wreaked havoc on the district's Kampur revenue circle, with over 2.37 lakh people affected and around 80000 individuals in the district's Raha revenue circle. A total of 184 villages in the district's three revenue circles are currently underwater, and rescue teams from the NDRF, SDRF and the local administration are working to rescue the flood victims. Flood fury in Assam The ASDMA report also mentioned that the floodwaters damaged many roads, culverts, several embankments and bridges in the district. Flood fury in Assam In the district, about 12,000 hectares of cropland are currently underwater. The district administration has set up 104 relief camps and distribution centres in the flood-affected areas.
