2019 general elections :Parties step up campaign on social media. Going by trends in social media, members of Cabinet of Justin Trudeau are going full blast not only to highlight the achievements of their government while taking shots at the previous Conservative government. Latest to join the social media campaign is one of the most experienced Liberal leader and Minister for Public Safety Ralph Goodale.is, intriguingly, 2019 general elections :Parties step up campaign on social media The Liberal caucus, intriguingly, is sparing the NDP in its social media concerted campaign against the Conservatives. In a message to Canadians in general and Liberal supporters in particular, Ralph Goodale not only ridiculed the Conservative government headed by Stephen Harper but also held that "at every turn, Conservatives practiced the politics of fear, greed and division." Ralph Goodale was first elected to the Parliament of Canada in 1974 at the age of 24, representing the sprawling rural constituency of Assiniboia. In the 1980’s, he served as Leader of the provincial Liberal Party, and was elected to the Saskatchewan Legislative Assembly in 1986. 2019 general elections :Parties step up campaign on social media He returned to the House of Commons in 1993 representing Wascana. He was subsequently re-elected in 1997, 2000, 2004, 2006, 2008, 2011 and 2015. He served in the federal Cabinet previously as Minister of Agriculture, Minister of Natural Resources, Leader of the Government in the House of Commons, Minister of Public Works and Minister of Finance. Between 2006 and 2015, he served as Opposition House Leader and Deputy Leader of the Liberal Party of Canada. He became Minister of Public Safety in November, 2015. Ralph Goodale is the only M.P. to serve in governments led by both father, Pierre Trudeau, and son, Justin Trudeau. He also holds the distinction of being selected by his peers as Canada’s first-ever “Parliamentarian of the Year” in 2006. 2019 general elections :Parties step up campaign on social media He says "I have served in the House of Commons under four different Liberal Prime Ministers. I have seen first hand what principled, progressive leadership can do to build a better Canada for all of us. "With Pierre Trudeau, we embedded the Charter of Rights and Freedoms and the inclusive principle of multiculturalism in the Canadian Constitution. "With Jean Chrétien, we signed the Kyoto Protocol to begin combating climate change, spurred a solid decade of economic growth, and kept Canada out of the war in Iraq. 2019 general elections :Parties step up campaign on social media "With Paul Martin, we bolstered federal funding for healthcare all across Canada, made equal marriage the law of the land, and negotiated the Kelowna Accord, which blazed the trail for closing painful gaps between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Peoples. "We are now making exciting progress for the middle class and every family working hard to join it. We're cutting the small business tax rate from 10.5% down to 9%. We're increasing the Canada Child Benefit -- providing more cash every month to help nine out of ten families to help them raise their kids. Our economy is growing at double the average rate of the previous decade, and, already, close to 600,000 net new jobs have been generated. "I also served in Opposition under Stephen Harper, where I have seen first-hand the damage that right-wing Conservatives can do to our country. 2019 general elections :Parties step up campaign on social media The Harper decade of grinding mediocrity stifled economic growth and job creation. Middle class families were left behind. Tax policies like income splitting benefited only the wealthiest Canadians at the expense of everyone else. They muzzled scientists and weakened the census, replacing evidence-based decision making with bias and prejudice. At every turn, Conservatives practiced the politics of fear, greed and division, he added. Talking about the present Conservative chief Andrew Scheer, Ralph Goodale said that "He is a self-proclaimed throw-back to Stephen Harper. He offers no new plan to Canadian families. He promises only to take the country back to the same failed Harper policies that left the middle class stalled and frustrated, and he has offered no hope whatsoever to those working so hard just to get to the middle class." -PTC News
