Govt school in Punjab closed after 14 students test positive for COVID-19
Reopening of schools in Punjab: A government school in Nawanshahr, Punjab, has been closed after students and teachers of the school tested positive for the novel coronavirus.
According to the officials, the Government school in Nawanshahr, Punjab, has been closed as 14 students and 3 teachers contracted coronavirus.

The announcement regarding the reopening of schools in Punjab was made by Vijay Inder Singla. The schools have been reopened for all schools for primary classes.
Vijay Inder Singla stated that the students of classes 3 and 4 were to be allowed to attend schools from January 27.

On the other hand, the schools were allowed to conduct physical classes for class 1 and 2 from February 1. The timings are the same from 10 am to 3 pm while the parents were still given authority to provide written consent before sending their wards to schools.
Coronavirus in Punjab
The total number of coronavirus cases in Punjab has increased to 1,73,674 after 171 new cases were reported in the last 24 hours, as of Tuesday evening.
Only 2122 active cases are left in the state while a total of 1,65,924 patients have been recovered from the COVID-19.
The death toll in the state has increased to 5628 after 12 new deaths were reported in the last 24 hours.
