Harmeet Singh Kalka elected DSGMC president
New Delhi, January 23: Harmeet Singh Kalka was on late Saturday evening elected the president of the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC). He was polled 29 votes. As per court orders, one vote has been kept "reserve", which will be opened in court on January 25.
Harvinder Singh KP was named senior vice-president; Atma Singh Lubana vice-president; Jagdeep Singh Khalon, general secretary and Jasmain Singh Noni joint sectary of the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC).
Earlier, the Delhi Police took Paranjit Singh Sarna and Manjit Singh GK into custody. Ballot box was also got released from the "clutches" of the Sarna camp.

It is pertinent to mention here that the elections to the posts of president and office-bearers of the DSGMC were marred by multiple controversies and ugly scenes on Saturday morning.
The voting was to held at Rakab Ganj Gurdwara, New Delhi. However, it had to be stopped within minutes. All efforts were made to continue the voting, but in vain.
Why the elections were delayed?
Sukhbir Singh Kalra cast his secret ballot, but after "showing it publicly". This was objected by Paramjit Singh Sarna and his brother Harvinder Singh Sarna. Former DSGMC president Manjit Singh GK also objected to it.
There were demands to declared the vote ‘invalid’, but pro-term chairman Gurdev Singh objected to it.
The vote of Jasbir Singh Jassi has been kept in a secret cover, which will be opened in court. He is yet to prove his proficiency in Punjabi language.
The Shiromani Akali Dal has 30 members in the House that has 51 voting members. The House has 55 members; the four don’t caste votes as they are nominated. The Sarna brother and Manjit GK group has 21 members.
