India fines Google $162 mn for anti-competitive practices
Google fined for anti-competitive practices: The Competition Commission of India (CCI) on Thursday informed that it has fined Alphabet Inc’s Google 13.38 billion Indian rupees ($162 million) for anti-competitive practices related to Android mobile devices.
The Competition Commission of India (CCI) also ordered Google to refrain from giving any incentives to smartphone manufacturers in exchange for only carrying its search services.

Google is dealing with a slew of antitrust cases in India, as well as stricter tech-sector regulations. The Indian Competition Commission is also investigating Google's business practices in the smart TV industry as well as its in-app payments system.
According to Counterpoint Research, Google's Android operating system powers 97% of India's 600 million smartphones.
