India witnesses decline in Covid caseload; 830 fresh infections

India Covid update: India on Wednesday reported 830 fresh coronavirus cases, taking the caseload to 4,46,45,768. It is the lowest single-day rise in 197 days. On the other hand, the number of active cases has also come down to 21,607, says the data issued by the Union Health Ministry. The Covid 19 death has mounted to 5,28,981 with one new fatality, says the update on coronavirus. The active cases in India comprise 0.05 per cent of the total infections. The national coronavirus recovery rate has increased to 98.77 per cent, the health ministry added. The daily positivity rate was recorded at 0.67 per cent, while the weekly positivity rate stood at 1.05 per cent, says the health ministry data. The number of people who have recovered from coronavirus has reached 4,40,95,180 and the case fatality rate was recorded at 1.18 per cent. So far, 219.57 crore doses of Covid-19 vaccines have been administered under the nationwide vaccination drive, according to the ministry. It went past 60 lakh on September 28, 70 lakh on October 11, crossed 80 lakh on October 29, 90 lakh on November 20 and surpassed the one-crore mark on December 19.
