IPL 2022 mega auction: These 5 overseas openers can spark a bidding war

With a few days to go for the IPL 2022 mega auction, all 10 franchises — Chennai Super Kings, Mumbai Indians, Kolkata Knight Riders, Delhi Capitals, SunRisers Hyderabad, Rajasthan Royals, Punjab Kings, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Lucknow Super Giants and yet to be named Ahmedabad team — are busy preparing a strategy for mega auction. BCCI is yet to confirm the venue for the mega auction. BCCI secretary Jay Shah has confirmed that it will take place on February 12 and 13. Unlike the other auctions, the mega auction carries special significance. These two days will decide the shape and strength of the franchise for the next three seasons. Here are five overseas openers that can lead a bidding war in the IPL 2022 mega auction: David Warner: IPL's most successful overseas batter with 5,449 runs in 149 matches, Warner is likely to be a hot pick in the mega auction. Jonny Bairstow: England heavyweight has done an amazing job for Sunrisers Hyderabad at the top of the order for the last few seasons. His strike rate of 142.19 in the IPL is far better than most of the openers playing in the tournament. Jason Roy: England batter too last played for SRH and he has the potential to single-handedly demolish bowling attacks if he gets going. He has done quite well with white-ball cricket. Faf du Plessis: Unfortunately, Chennai Super Kings were not able to retain him but he has been one of the stalwarts of their batting unit for the last few seasons. He is a pillar at the top of the order and an outstanding outfielder. Quinton de Kock: South African wicketkeeper-batter is one of the cleanest strikers of white-ball cricket across the world. He had proved his mettle many times while opening the batting for the Mumbai Indians. He has retired from red-ball cricket and now his full concentration is on limited-overs cricket. Chennai Super Kings, Mumbai Indians, Kolkata Knight Riders, Delhi Capitals, SunRisers Hyderabad, Rajasthan Royals, Punjab Kings, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Lucknow Super Giants and yet to be named Ahmedabad team are set for the mega auction.
