Jalandhar, September 17: The joint front of rural and agricultural workers organisations on Saturday announced that the workers' union will block the Amritsar-Delhi highway at Phillaur on September 20. The Joint Labour Front will be led by - president of Pendu Khet Mazdoor Union, Tarsem Peter; Zora Singh Nasrali, president of Punjab Khet Mazdoor Union; Dehati Mazdoor Sabha president, Darshan Nahar; Punjab Khet Mazdoor Sabha's Gulzar Goriya; Mazdoor Mukti Morcha state president, Bhagwant Singh Samao. Earlier on September 14, the leader of Revolutionary Rural Labour Union Lakhvir Singh Longowal and president of Zamin Prapti Sangrash Committee Mukesh Malaud stated that two labourers died after being hit by a high-speed train at Phillaur. According to the leaders of the front, farmers and labour organisations are demanding government approval for compensation for deaths and martyrdoms during the protest. "Hundreds of families have already received compensation, but in this case, the district administration and the government are refusing to compensate," they said.
