Lakhimpur Kheri violence: Sanyukt Kisan Morcha calls for 'rail roko' on Oct 18

Lakhimpur Kheri violence: In an order to protest against the Lakhimpur Kheri incident in which four farmers were allegedly killed by the Union Minister of State for Home Ajay Mishra's son Ashish Mishra, the Sanyukt Kisan Morcha has called 'rail roko' agitation on October 18.

Farmer leader Yogendra Yadav said that "Sanyukt Kisan Morcha (SKM) has called 'rail roko' on Oct 18 to protest Lakhimpur Kheri violence."

On October 12, the farmers will pay homage to those killed in Lakhimpur Kheri. SKM has asked farmers to reach Lakhimpur on Oct 12. Farmers will burn effigies of PM Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah on Dusshera on October 15.

Also, the farmers will organise Kisan Mahapanchayat in Lucknow to protest against the 'Lakhimpur massacre'.

While addressing a press conference, farmer leader Darshan Pal said that the "Lakhimpur Kheri incident was part of a pre-planned conspiracy. They (attackers) tried to terrorise farmers."

"Govt has adopted a violent approach against protesting farmers. We won't take the path of violence," said farmer leader Joginder Singh Ugrahan.

"We demand Union Minister Ajay Mishra and his son Ashish be arrested," said Ugrahan. Likewise, Yogendra Yadav said that Union Minister Ajay Mishra should be removed and arrested as he started this conspiracy.

Farmers have been protesting against Farmers’ Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act, 2020; the Farmers Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and farm Services Act 2020 and the Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act, 2020.
