Man kills estranged wife, also pregnant, over second marriage, smashes her head with flower pot
PTC News Desk: A 30-year-old software engineer was stabbed to death by her ex-husband, who is also a software engineer in Hyderabad. The accused stabbed her multiple times and struck her on the head with a flower pot.
According to the police, the motive behind killing stems from his resentment over her recent remarriage and the cases she filed against him.
The accused Mahesh reportedly entered the victim Sunitha's apartment and attacked her with two sharp-edged weapons, believed to be a knife. She died on the spot due to the injuries, according to police.
Sunitha and Mahesh got married in 2022 and obtained a mutual divorce in 2024. Sunitha remarried in April 2025. Following the separation, Mahesh reportedly bore a grudge against her decision of remarriage and a domestic violence case filed against him. Investigators are also examining the fact that case against him had impacted his ability to travel abroad.
According to police, after their marriage in India, Mahesh had gone to Canada and Sunitha later joined him there. However, differences arose between the couple, and after staying with him for five days, she returned to India and subsequently filed a domestic violence case against him in Maharashtra.
Police said the accused held a grudge against the woman and planned to kill her. He allegedly found her home address through her social media account, came to Hyderabad two months ago, and stayed at a nearby hostel.
After the murder, police quickly tracked him down and arrested him at the apartment complex. He was carrying a bag that contained two knives, a drilling machine, and a five-litre can of petrol, along with other items.
