Punjab's 'grand cash wedding': Was Rs 8.5 crore showered on bride? Groom's family clarifies exact amount
PTC News Desk: A viral video in Punjab has sparked rumour that Rs 8.5 crore was showered on the bride, however family of the groom has clarified that the actually amount showered was far less.
The video from the ceremony in Tarn Taran which has gone viral, showed the bride standing as currency notes rained down on her— a customary gesture at many Punjabi weddings. gesture at many Punjabi weddings.
Soon after the video went viral, several social media accounts describe the wedding as a “grand cash party” alleging that crores were splurged.
Meanwhile the groom's family clairfied that money was indeed showered but the actual figure was not even close to what had been circulating online.

“My brother runs a truck business in Australia. The marriage was on February 14. We celebrated by showering money, but it was around Rs 2 lakh. Social media exaggerated it into crores, which is wrong,” he said.
The event manager and DJ also dismissed the claim the confirmed that approximately Rs 4 lakh, including some dollar notes was showered. They said they were unsure how the Rs 8.5 crore figure surfaced and went viral.
Despite the clarifications, the video continues to attract attention, drawing mixed reactions.
