Legendary Writer and poet Krishna Sobti dies at 93
Eminent writer and a social activist Krishna Sobti whose writings focused on female sexuality, changing dynamics of Indian society and issues of female identity, passed away on Friday morning (January 25) in Delhi.

The legendary author and essayist died at an age of 93 at a Delhi hospital. She was admitted for the last two months. Her condition deteriorated in the last one week.
Legendary writer, was born on February 1925. She was a great poet, fiction writer and a bold voice on social issues. She also won many prestigious awards for her great contribution to the Indian literature. She was awarded the Sahitya Akademi Award in 1980, the Shiromani Award in 1981, Hindi Academy Award in 1982 and the Jnanpith Awards in 2017.

The Government of India also nominated Krishna Sobti for the prestigious Padma Bhushan, but she declined the offer.
Her most popular works include Dara se bichuri, Mitro Marjani and Surajmukhi andhere ke.
