As much as people love to play Holi, one can't forget the ill effects caused by the blatant use of artificial colours made with the help of chemical solvents and toxic agents.

The chemical colours can harm your skin and may cause rashes or allergies. It could even damage your hair, leading to breakage, dandruff, and several other issues.

So, this time instead of buying artificial colours from nearby markets, you can opt for natural, chemical-free Holi colours made at home. Here are the steps to create your own eco-friendly homemade Holi colours. 

Step-by-step DIY to make natural organic colours for Holi 

Yellow Colours 
Homemade and organic yellow colour of Holi can be made through:

  • Mix turmeric powder with flour or cornstarch to create a vibrant yellow color
  • Mixing besan with baby powder 
  • Applying crushed multani mitti 

Red/Magenta Colour 
Homemade and organic Red/Magenta colour of Holi can be made through: 

  • Mixing beetroot with baby powder 
  • Mixing sindoor with baby powder


Green

Homemade and organic green colour of Holi can be made through: 

  • Mixing heena power with flour 
  • Blending fresh spinach leaves with water to create a green liquid.

Orange
Homemade and organic orange colour of Holi can be made through: 

  • Peeling off oranges, grinding them and mixing them with talcum powder 

Brown
Homemade and organic Red/Magenta colour of Holi can be made through: 

  • Boiling coffee in water and mixing with rose water 

Blue

  • Crush fresh or frozen blueberries and strain the liquid to obtain a natural blue dye
  • Boil chopped red cabbage in water and strain the liquid to obtain a blue color.

  • Crush purple grapes and strain the juice to obtain a natural purple dye.
