Maharashtra firefighter gets President's Fire Service Medal for Gallantry posthumously
Maharashtra fireman rescuer Balu Damu Deshmukh has been posthumously awarded the President's Fire Service Medal for gallantry.
According to a press release from the Ministry of Home Affairs, Fire Service Medals for Gallantry have been bestowed to Gujarat's Basant Kumar Pareek, an Additional Chief Fire Officer and Punjab's Pradeep Kumar, a Fire Station Officer.
The President's Home Guards and Civil Defence Medal For Distinguished Service have been awarded to Satvinder Puri, Chief Warden (CD) of Delhi and Willy Nonglang, Dy. Controller (CD) of Meghalaya.
According to the release, 42 personnel will be awarded Fire Service Medals on Republic Day in 2022.

Every year on the occasion of Republic Day and Independence Day, the President's Medal for Gallantry and President's Medal for Distinguished Services, as well as the Gallantry Medal and Meritorious Services Medals, are conferred to personnel of the Fire Services, Civil Defense and Home Guards.
According to the statement, one person received the President's Fire Service Medal for Gallantry and two have been given the Fire Service Medal for Gallantry for their respective acts of valour and gallantry.
Nine people will get the President's Fire Service Medal for Distinguished Service, and 30 will receive the Fire Service Medal for Meritorious Service for their respective distinguished and meritorious records of service, as per the statement.
In addition, on Republic Day 2022, 25 personnel/volunteers will be awarded Home Guard and Civil Defence Medals.
