As the number of Covid-19 cases continues to rise in several states and Union Territories, the Punjab Government on Thursday decided to make the wearing of masks mandatory in crowded places. Issuing the order on Thursday morning, the state government announced that wearing face masks has been made mandatory once again. According to the latest order, "all the residents of Punjab are advised to wear face masks in crowded places," and the same "should be ensured in the closed environments."

Officials said the Delhi Disaster Management Authority, at its meeting, has decided not to shut schools, but has come up with a separate Standard Operating Procedure in consultation with experts.

Masks up again Earlier, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh governments also made the wearing of masks mandatory in NCR districts. Meanwhile, India recorded 2,380 fresh cases in the last 24 hours, with the case positivity rate going up to 0.53 per cent, said the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Thursday. With this, the active caseload in the country stands at 13,433, accounting for 0.03 percent of the total cases.
