MI vs CSK: IPL 2020 opener achieves milestone; No league has ever achieved this

IPL 2020 Update: The opening match of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 between Mumbai Indians (MI) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) broke all the viewership records as crores of people tuned in to watch the MI vs CSK match.

The Chennai Super Kings-led by MS Dhoni defeated Rohit Sharma-led Mumbai Indians in the IPL 13 opener on September 19.

Sharing the news, the secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) took to Twitter and wrote: "Opening match of Dream 11 IPL sets a new record!"


The Tweet added that "As per BARC, an unprecedented 20 crore people tuned in to watch the match. The highest-ever opening day viewership for any sporting league in any country. No league has ever opened as big as this."

Likewise, the BCCI and BCCI President Sourav Ganguly shared the same news on their official Twitter handles.

CSK skipper MS Dhoni marked his 100th win for his franchise as the Yellowe defeated Mumbai Paltan by 5 wickets in the opening match of the IPL 2020, which was played at Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi.

MS Dhoni made a cricket comeback via IPL 2020 after 437 days as he last played a match during the ICC 2019 World Cup when he had played against New Zealand in the semi-finals in July last year.

Meanwhile, MS Dhoni, the former Indian skipper, announced his retirement from the International cricket on August 15 this year.
