The family of Gurbaksh Singh, who was arrested for allegedly cutting power supply of late DM Gagandeep Singh Randhawa, reportedly died in police custody in Amritsar.

DM Gagandeep Randhawa house power supply row: One accused dies in police custody in Amritsar, family alleges brutal assault

DM Gagandeep Randhawa house power supply row: In a significant turn of events in DM Gagandeep Randhawa's house power supply row, one of the accused has reportedly died in police custody in Amritsar. 


Following the incident, the victim's family has levelled serious allegations against the police and claimed that the victim was brutally assaulted in the police custody which led to his death. 

The deceased has been identified as Gurbaksh Singh.

According to the information, police had arrested two accused in connection with cutting power supply of late DM Gagandeep Singh Randhawa's house and obtained five-day remand.

Gurbaksh's family has alleged that his health deteriorated in police custody after he was subjected to intense torture and brutal assault. The family further said that they repeatedly urged the police to provide proper medical treatment and even requested that he be admitted to a private hospital, but their pleas were ignored.

Earlier, deceased Gagandeep Randhawa's family had alleged that the electricity supply to their home was deliberately tampered with.

According to the family, the incident took place when police officials were present at their residence to record statements. 

During this time, the power suddenly went out. Initially, the family assumed it was a routine outage or a technical fault. However, late at night, electricity was restored in nearby houses but not to their residence.

When the family called an electrician, it was found that the wires connecting the meter to the house had been cut. The matter was immediately brought to the notice of the police. Senior officers reached the spot and examined CCTV footage from the area.
