15-year-old boy killed, several injured as massive fire engulfs chawl in Mumbai
PTC News Desk: A 15-year-old-boy was killed while several others injured after a fire broke out at a chawl in Mumbai's Cuffe Parade area on Monday.
The blaze, which started around 4:15 am, was brought under control within half an hour.
Four people were taken to St George’s Hospital, where the victim, Yash Vitthal Khot, was declared dead on arrival. The injured — Devendra Choudhary, Viraj Khot, and Sangram Kurne — are currently receiving treatment.
According to civic officials, the fire was confined to a small 10x10-foot section on the first floor, affecting electric wiring, installations, three electric vehicle batteries, and household items.
Choudhary has been admitted to the ICU, while the other two are reported to be stable. A fire engine was promptly dispatched, and the flames were fully extinguished by 4:35 am, officials added.
