The patients hailing from various areas, including Jahangirpuri, Mahendra Park, Samaypur, Bhalswa Dairy, Lal Bagh and Swaroop Nagar, were found stable and no serious case was reported, the police added.

200 people fall ill after consuming 'Kuttu Ka Atta' during Navratri in Delhi

PTC News Desk: At least 200 people fell ill due to alleged food poisoning after consuming buckwheat flour (‘kuttu ka atta’) during Navratri fasting in northwest Delhi, the police said on Tuesday.


The patients hailing from various areas, including Jahangirpuri, Mahendra Park, Samaypur, Bhalswa Dairy, Lal Bagh and Swaroop Nagar, were found stable and no serious case was reported, the police added.

"Teams were rushed to BJRM Hospital, where the chief medical officer informed that around 150 to 200 persons had reported to the emergency ward since morning, the police added.

The police said that suspected food poisoning has triggered a wave of fear in the locality as large numbers of people have been observing fast on the occassion of Navratri. 

The officials further said that the matter has been further communicated to the Food department for further action. A quality check will also be conducted of the flour that is being sold in the market.
