PTC News Desk: About 25 members of the transgender community in Indore allegedly consumed phenyl together on Wednesday night and were subsequently admitted to a government hospital, an official said. The reason behind the collective act remains unclear.

Dr Basant Kumar Ningwal, Superintendent-in-Charge of the government-run Maharaja Yashwantrao Hospital (MYH), "Around 25 people from the transgender community have been admitted to our hospital. They have claimed to have consumed phenyl together, but this cannot be immediately confirmed." None of the patients was in a critical condition, he informed.

Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Rajesh Dandotiya stated, “Only after the investigation will it be clear what substance they consumed and why.”

Another police official suggested that the incident might be linked to an ongoing dispute between two local factions within the transgender community.
