PTC News Desk: Over 300 individuals, including women and children, fell ill after consuming 'prasad' during a religious event in Maharashtra's Buldhana district. The incident occurred during the last day of 'Harinam Saptah,' a week-long religious programme, at Somthana village in Lonar.

Patients were seen receiving treatment outside a hospital due to a bed shortage, with saline bottles hung from tree ropes. Devotees from Somthana and Khaparkhed villages consumed the 'prasad' around 10 pm and subsequently experienced stomach pain, nausea, and vomiting.

Affected individuals were rushed to a hospital in Bibi village, where, due to the bed shortage, many received treatment on the road. Saline bottles were hung from trees to facilitate treatment. "It was the sixth day of the religious program in Somthana. 'Prasad' was distributed to 400 to 500 people on 'Ekadashi' (eleventh day). Several individuals complained of food poisoning and are currently undergoing treatment," said a local resident.

District Collector Kiran Patil stated that most patients were in stable condition and were discharged on Wednesday. A medical team remains on standby with an ambulance and necessary equipment. Samples of the 'prasad' have been sent for analysis, and an inquiry into the incident will be conducted, according to Patil.
