400 kg drugs, Rs 14 lakh MD seized in Gujarat; one arrested
PTC News Desk: Gujarat police seized illegal drugs from a factory in the Ankleshwar industrial area of Bharuch district on Sunday and arrested one person in connection with the case.
Anand Chaudhary, Special Operations Group (SOG) police inspector, reported that 427 kg and 141 gramme of suspected illegal methamphetamine (MD) were confiscated from 'Avasar Enterprise' in Ankleshwar GIDC area. The drug was valued at Rs 14.10 lakh.
The district SOG and Surat police conducted these operations jointly. Drugs that appeared to be illegal were sent to a Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) for confirmation. A case has been opened, and further investigation is currently underway.
Recently, Gujarat and Delhi police confiscated over 500 kg of cocaine worth Rs 5,000 crore from Avkar Drugs Limited's Ankleshwar factory in a joint operation.
The seizure took place in response to information from a central intelligence agency related to an international narcotic drug cartel smuggling cocaine into Delhi. The package also included 40 kg of hydroponic marijuana, the first such seizure in the national capital.
Tushar Goyal (40) of Delhi's Vasant Enclave, Himanshu Kumar (27) of Hind Vihar in Delhi, Aurangzeb Siddiqui (23) of Deoria, Uttar Pradesh, and Bharat Kumar Jain (48) of Kurla, Mumbai, were arrested by the Delhi police Special Cell for their involvement in the illegal drug trade.
