Kolkata doctor murder: The Kolkata police stated on Monday that the accused arrested for r@ping and murdering a doctor in a government hospital had an addiction to pornogr@phy and had many such videos on his phone.

According to a police officer, the accused, Sanjoy Roy, enjoyed watching "disturbing and violent" pornogr@phy, which was "unnatural".

The 33-year-old civic volunteer who joined the police in 2019, had four marriages and was a womaniser, according to the officer.

"The pornogr@phy on his phone was disturbing and violent. We are concerned about the state of his mind because his behaviour is unnatural," the officer stated.

He had a history of physically abusing his wives, the officer said. Roy's neighbours stated that his first wife was from Behala, and his second wife was from Park Circus.

"He married for the third time, to a girl from Barrackpore. But that didn't last long. Then he married a woman from the city's Alipore neighbourhood," a neighbour stated.

The police officer informed the agency that neighbours complained about fighting noises coming from the accused's house. "His fourth wife, who was working at a petrol pump in Alipore, had also lodged a complaint of domestic violence, which went on till legal separation was granted," the officer said.

Sanjoy Roy is also a trained boxer. He was posted to the police outpost at the state-owned RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, where the incident occurred.
