Amit Shah reviews security situation with senior officials in Manipur's Moreh

Moreh (Manipur), May 31: Union Home Minister Amit Shah met with senior officials in Moreh, Manipur, on Wednesday to assess the security situation.

Amit Shah stated in a tweet, "Held a meeting with the delegations of Kuki and other communities at Moreh. They expressed strong support for the government's initiatives to restore normalcy in Manipur."


"Took stock of the security situation with senior officials in Moreh (Manipur)," Shah tweeted.

People flocked to Imphal's Khwairamband Market on Tuesday after the administration lifted the curfew for six hours until 11 a.m.

People were seen hurrying to the market to get necessary products. Women vendors at the Ima Keithel (claimed to be the world's largest women-only market) expressed their happiness at Union Home Minister Amit Shah's visit to the state and hoped that the situation will return to normalcy as soon as possible.

Women vendors of the Ima Keithel requested HM Amit Shah to 'flush out Kuki terrorists from the land of Manipur, so that all the communities, including Meitei, Meitei Pangals, Kukis, and Nagas, live peacefully together', accusing Kukis of attacking regular villagers and torching their houses and villages.

On his second day in Manipur, Union Home Minister Amit Shah met with civil society organisations, a group of important personalities, intellectuals, retired Army officers, and public officials in Imphal on Tuesday.

The Home Minister also met with senior officials from the Manipur Police, Central Armed Police Forces, and the Indian Army to discuss the security situation.

In a meeting with security forces, Shah stated that"peace and prosperity of Manipur is our top priority", and instructed the officials to strictly deal with any activities disturbing the peace of the state".
