Another dog attack in Delhi; 7-year-old girl attacked, dragged away by pet Pitbull
PTC News Desk: A seven-year-old girl was injured by a pet Pitbull in Shahadra's Jagatpuri neighbourhood, police said on Saturday.
A police officer stated that the girl was playing outside her house on Friday evening when the dog suddenly attacked and dragged her before being rescued by neighbours.
The girl was taken to a hospital by her mother, and her condition seemed safe, according to the officer.
Police took the girl's mother's statement and scanned CCTV footage from the area to determine the sequence of events.
A case under Indian Penal Code sections 289 (negligent act with respect to animal) and 337 (causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others) has been filed against the dog's owner, Shivanand Bhaskar, and an investigation has begun, police said.
In recent weeks, Delhi has witnessed a number of dig bite incidents. Last week, a two-year-old girl was allegedly mauled to death by a pack of stray dogs on Tughlak Road in central Delhi. On February 15, an autorickshaw driver was thrashed by a man and bitten multiple times by his dog after allegedly asking the owner to keep the pet on a leash.
