BA student in Bihar’s Motihari injured in acid attack by rejected relative
PTC Web Desk: A young girl pursuing a Bachelor of Arts degree was critically injured in an acid attack at her residence in Bihar’s Motihari district. The incident occurred while she was asleep at home, police sources said.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the attack was allegedly carried out by a relative who had developed romantic feelings for the woman. The accused reportedly became resentful after his advances were rejected. According to the police, the woman had blocked his phone number after repeatedly refusing to engage with him.
Officials said the accused had been harbouring anger for several days and was waiting for an opportunity to retaliate. A few days ago, he allegedly entered the house at night and threw acid on the woman, causing severe burn injuries.
The victim was rushed to a private hospital in the city, where she is currently undergoing treatment. Her condition is said to be serious.
Soon after the incident, the local police reached the spot and initiated an investigation. The accused was traced and taken into custody a few days later. Further probe is underway to ascertain the sequence of events and gather additional evidence.
