BJP alleges 'appeasement' as it criticises KCR over 'Urdu' move
New Delhi, November 19: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president JP Nadda launched a scathing attack on the Telangana Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), accusing the K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) government of engaging in 'appeasement politics.' Nadda claimed that the government made Urdu the state's second language and was attempting to seize temple lands.
Addressing a rally in Ranga Reddy district, Nadda criticized KCR for practicing appeasement politics in Telangana. He questioned the decision to designate Urdu as the second language and alleged plans to increase religious-based reservation from 4% to 12%, as well as attempting to acquire temple lands. Nadda called for the removal of those engaging in such appeasement.
Referring to KCR's promise of a 12% reservation for Muslims in 2014, Nadda highlighted the government's attempts to increase the quota, which faced resistance when forwarded to the union government. The BJP president accused BRS MLAs of corruption, specifically citing a 30% commission charged in the Dalit Bandhu scheme.
Nadda detailed instances of corruption, including a ₹4,000 crore scam in Miyapur and alleged kickbacks of ₹1,000 crore on the Outer Ring Road. He characterized KCR's leadership in Telangana as "5G" representing Gareebi (poverty), Ghotala (scam), Ghooskhori (bribery), Ghaplebaazi (fraud), and Gundaraj (goonda rule).
In his criticism, Nadda also targeted the Congress, claiming that the party failed to fulfill its promises in Karnataka. He asserted that both the Congress and KCR's leadership were synonymous with corruption.
Telangana is set to vote on November 30, with results expected on December 3.
