Bus carrying school children overturns in UP, four killed
PTC News Desk: A bus carrying school children overturned in Uttar Pradesh's Barabanki district, killing four children and injuring a dozen others.
The accident took place in Salarpur village, under the district's Dewa police station, when the bus driver lost control of the wheels while attempting to save a bike rider. Schoolchildren were returning from Lucknow after a picnic.
According to the authorities, the students were from Composite School in Harakka and had gone on a picnic at Lucknow Zoo.
Based on the information, police arrived at the scene and began the rescue effort with the help of the villagers.
All injured children were taken to the district hospital for treatment.
One of the school teachers accompanying the students stated, "We went to Lucknow on an educational trip with a staff of five persons. After finishing the educational tour, we headed back to Suratganj. The bus went out of control in an attempt to save the bike rider and overturned on the side of the road.
Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) of Barabanki CN Sinha, who arrived at the scene, confirmed the occurrence and reported that four children had died. The rest of the children have been taken to the district hospital for treatment.
