CBI registers FIR against ex-Punjab DGP Mustafa and his wife in connection with son's death

PTC News Desk: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed a case against former Punjab DGP Mohammad Mustafa, his wife and former minister Razia Sultana, and other family members in connection with the death of their 35-year-old son, Aqil Akhtar. Aqil was found dead under mysterious circumstances in Panchkula, Haryana, on October 16. The FIR was filed under sections 103(1) and 61 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) 2023, after the Haryana government handed over the case to the CBI.


CBI confirms the case

In an official statement, the CBI said it registered the FIR on November 6 in the Aqil Akhtar murder case. “The case involves allegations that Aqil Akhtar, son of Mohammad Mustafa and Razia Sultana, died under suspicious circumstances on October 16,” a spokesperson said.

Family members accused of conspiracy

The FIR names Mustafa, Sultana, Aqil’s wife, and his sister in the case under BNS sections related to murder and criminal conspiracy. Officials said that on August 27, Aqil had posted a video on social media claiming his father was having an illicit relationship with his wife. He also accused his mother, sister, and wife of planning to kill him or trap him in a false case.
