CEO accused of physically assaulting ex-colleague in Delhi 5-star hotel

PTC News Desk: A private company's CEO has been accused of raping an NRI woman, a former colleague, as reported by the police on Sunday. The incident is said to have occurred on September 14, 2023, at a luxurious five-star hotel in the Chanakyapuri district of Delhi.

Based on the complaint filed by the Indian-origin US citizen on Saturday night, an FIR has been registered against the CEO under Section 376 (rape) of the Indian Penal Code at Chanakyapuri police station. According to the police, the complainant was employed as an assistant general manager at the company where the accused held the position of CEO. She further alleged that the accused, known to her uncle, played a role in securing her job.

The complaint sheds light on a senior police officer stating that a thorough investigation is currently underway to gather additional details and evidence related to the incident. The case emphasises the importance of addressing such allegations promptly and thoroughly to ensure justice for the victim.

In a similar case, a distressing incident unfolding in [City], a US woman, who arrived in India last year, fell victim to an alleged gangrape by two men in the capital city. The authorities swiftly acted, apprehending the accused who now face charges under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), notably 376D (gangrape) and 376(2)(n) (repeatedly raping the same woman).

The unsettling event transpired on July 31 when the 44-year-old woman found herself alone at a beach near the ashram. Seizing an opportune moment, the accused approached her, initially offering to share cigarettes. Upon her refusal, they then coerced her into consuming rum.

As the effects of the alcohol took hold, she became incapacitated. Subsequently, the perpetrators placed her between them on a motorcycle and transported her to a nearby vacant house. There, she was subjected to repeated gangrape, as reported by the police, citing information from news agency PTI.

The swift response from law enforcement led to the apprehension of the accused individuals, who are now facing the legal consequences of their alleged actions. The gravity of such incidents underscores the ongoing need for heightened awareness, preventive measures, and stringent legal measures to ensure the safety and security of individuals, particularly women, in public spaces.
