Chandigarh: BMW, Jaguar among 20 luxury cars gutted after fire breaks out at car workshop
PTC News Desk: A fire broke out at S.K. Motors’ workshop in Makhan Majra, Chandigarh and blaze spread so rapidly that within moments nearly 20 luxury cars, including BMWs, Jaguars, Land Cruisers, Mercedes, and Range Rovers, were completely gutted.
According to workshop owner Santosh, the fire broke out due to a short circuit in a nearby plastic shop, and the fire gradually spread across the workshop.
As soon as the fire was reported, about eight fire brigade vehicles arrived at the spot. After much effort, the fire was brought under control, but by then all the vehicles inside the workshop had been destroyed. The workshop owner himself was injured while trying to extinguish the flames.
The security guard immediately informed Santosh about the fire, and he rushed to the spot. While attempting to douse the blaze, Santosh sustained serious injuries to his arm and other parts of his body.
Santosh said the workshop had been operating since 2009. In the accident, not only the cars but also the workshop’s machinery, computers, and other equipment were burned.
The incident has left the car-owners furious and agitated after their luxury cars suffered heavy damages.
