Chandigarh Heatwave: UT announces summer vacation in schools from May 22 to May 30

Chandigarh Heatwave: Chandigarh Administration on Tuesday announced summer vacation in schools from May 22 to May 30. The development comes as North India continues to suffer from sweltering heat.

Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a severe heatwave red alert for Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, and Chandigarh. The weather department has predicted heatwave to severe heatwave conditions over the next five days.


Earlier, on Monday, the Punjab Government took proactive measures to ensure the safety and well-being of students by deciding to declare summer vacations in all schools from May 21. Earlier, the summer holidays were scheduled to begin from June 1 but due to the Red Alert for heatwave issued in Punjab, the state government announced early summer vacations in all schools.
