Chandigarh Thar hit-and-run case: Law student arrested for mowing down sisters, one dead, one critical
PTC Web Desk: The Chandigarh Police have arrested the accused in the Thar hit-and-run case that claimed the life of a girl and left her sister critically injured. The accused has been identified as Neroshpreet Singh, who is a law student.
The incident took place on Wednesday afternoon when a red Thar SUV ran over two sisters in Chandigarh's Sec 45 and 46, near Dev Samaj College. The elder sister succumbed to her injuries, while the younger one remains hospitalised in critical condition.
The police had earlier seized the red Thar involved in the accident. Following allegations of negligence in handling the case, Burail Police Post in-charge has been removed from his position. Sub-Inspector Naveen has been appointed as the new in-charge.
The victim’s family had staged a protest, accusing the police of trying to protect the accused.
