Chhattisgarh: Maoists hack CAF personnel to death with axe

PTC News Desk: Maoists killed a personnel of the Chhattisgarh Armed Force (CAF) at a village market in the state's insurgency-hit Bijapur district, according to police.

According to a senior official, the attack took place around 9.30 a.m. in a village under the jurisdiction of the Kutru police station, where a CAF team was stationed to provide market security.


"A small group of Maoists attacked company commander Tijau Ram Bhuarya, who was leading the CAF team," said the official.

The Maoists hacked Bhuarya to death with an axe before fleeing, he added.

Bhuarya belonged to the CAF's 4th battalion, he stated.

When police were alerted, they rushed to the scene and launched a search for the assailants, according to the official.
